Solar questions, answered
The questions we hear most from homes and businesses across Ghana, with straight answers.
How much does a solar system cost in Ghana?
It depends on what you want to power. Our standard packages run from about GHS 35,910 for a small 1.5 kW home system to GHS 267,706 for 30 kW, installed. Prices are for Accra; installs outside Greater Accra add a GHS 3,000 transport fee. The calculator prices your exact load in about two minutes.
Can solar run my air conditioner?
Yes, if the system is sized for it. Our 3 kW package is built for lights, fans, fridges, freezers and TVs and does not run ACs. Tell the calculator how many ACs you run at the same time and it will size the inverter, panels and battery to carry them.
How long will the battery last at night?
Your result shows estimated backup hours for your load. We size the lithium (LiFePO4) battery to cover your night-time use with headroom, and the panels to refill it within the five or so peak sun hours Ghana gets each day.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Interest-free payment plans are available. Ask about them when we call you about your quote.
What warranty do I get?
Installations carry a 5-year system warranty, and panels, inverters and batteries carry their manufacturers’ warranties.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Deep Solar Ghana holds an Energy Commission of Ghana licence for the installation and maintenance of solar energy systems (licence EC-ISM/12-24-260).
What happens at the site visit?
An engineer checks your roof or ground space, wiring, distribution board and the appliances you want to run, then confirms the final design and price. The visit costs GHS 300, paid online when you book to confirm your slot.
Do you install outside Accra?
Yes, we install nationwide, including Tema, Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast and Tamale.
How many solar panels do I need?
It depends on how much energy you use in a day, not on the size of the house. Our panels are 600 W each; a 3 kW package uses 6, a 6 kW package uses 10, and a 12 kW package uses 20. The calculator works out the number for your appliances.
What is the difference between off-grid and hybrid?
Off-grid means the panels and battery carry everything, so you are not affected by power cuts at all. Hybrid means solar carries most of your use and the grid tops up, which costs less upfront. Both keep running through dumsor because the battery takes over.
Why lithium batteries?
Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries let you use about 90% of their capacity, last many more charge cycles than gel or lead-acid, and need no topping up. They cost more upfront but less over the life of the system.
Will it work during harmattan and the rainy season?
Yes, with lower output on very hazy or cloudy days. We design for about five peak sun hours a day and assume panels give 60% of their rating in real conditions, so there is room for bad weather. Cleaning dusty panels helps a lot in harmattan.
How much does the site visit cost?
The visit costs GHS 300. Pay it online by Mobile Money or card when you book; your visit is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through.
Can I add more panels or batteries later?
Yes. Our inverters and lithium batteries support adding units in parallel, so a system can grow when you add appliances. Tell us your plans at the site visit and we design with room to grow.
