Solar calculator
Start from the place closest to yours, then change the appliances, hours and how much you want solar to carry. Your system and price update as you go.
1Your place
Typical 3-bed Ghanaian home: large fridge, freezer, TV, fans, lights, kettle, pump, washing, optional AC. Adjust the list below to match your place.
2Your appliances
Watts are on the label or in the manual. Hours are how long each one runs on a normal day. Day means between 6 am and 6 pm.

It runs the same design rules our engineers use in the Deep Solar app, against the panels, inverters and batteries we actually stock.
Daily energy
Each appliance's watts times its hours gives its daily energy. Use marked as day runs on the panels; night use comes from the battery; appliances that run both are split evenly between them.
Panels
We size the array to cover your whole day's use and to fully recharge the battery within about five peak sun hours. Real roofs rarely deliver a panel's full rating, so the design assumes 60% of rated output and adds 20% for wiring and dust losses.
Battery
Lithium batteries can safely use about 90% of their capacity, so the battery is at least your night-time use divided by 0.9, and never less than 1 kWh.
Inverter
Motors, fridges, pumps and ACs pull a surge when they start. The inverter is sized at 1.9 times your total connected load, or large enough for the panel array, whichever is bigger.
Price
The design is matched to the closest standard package so you get its package price. Loads bigger than our packages are priced from components plus installation. Prices are for Greater Accra; elsewhere adds a transport fee. The final price is confirmed after a site visit.
